Immediately after the shooting, federal officials painted a dramatic picture. Sosa-Celis and his roommate, Alfredo Alejandro Aljorna, were accused of assaulting a federal officer. Their mugshots were circulated online. Then-Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem publicly escalated the claims, alleging “attempted murder.”

The Department of Homeland Security claimed an ICE agent had feared for his life after being violently attacked and beaten with a shovel. According to the government’s account, the officer fired a defensive shot while on the ground, but investigators say video evidence showed something entirely different.

Instead of being pinned down and attacked, Castro was allegedly standing outside the apartment and fired through a closed door. Investigators say the supposed shovel assault never happened. Iran is calling this exactly what it looks like: an attack on civilian infrastructure. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Israel is

“openly and unashamedly bombing pharmaceutical companies.”

Meanwhile, Iran’s health officials say the facility produced critical raw materials for hospital medications, supplied drugs used in operating rooms, and contributed to cancer treatment production.

Due to years of U.S. sanctions, Iran cannot rely on imports of foreign pharmaceuticals. Which means domestic facilities like this aren’t optional, they’re essential.

According to Trump, Iran is now willing to negotiate… though he insists any deal would require Tehran to give up its enriched uranium stockpile and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route responsible for roughly 20% of the world’s oil and gas transit.

But there’s a major problem: Iran says none of this is true.

Iranian officials flatly denied that any direct negotiations with Washington have taken place.
