As Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. AOC take on the rise of fascism through their national anti-Trump tours in a variety of areas and even deep red states like Utah and Idaho, it’s clear that their progressive messaging is resonating with the masses.
Harvard’s Center for American iPolitical Studies and Harris found that 72% of Democrat voters support politicians like AOC and Bernie who are:
Calling on Democrats to adopt a more aggressive stance towards Trump and his administration and “fight harder” rather than leaders who are willing to “compromise” with President Donald Trump.
Of that polling, only 28% of Democrat voters claimed they’d support a “moderate” approach, which is what the Democratic establishment has been doing since before Trump was elected during Kamala Harris’s campaign.
For example, Bernie and AOC spoke at Nampa, Idaho… a county that received 71% of the vote in that county. Even with that fact, the crowd as you can see below was packed to the very last available inch. They spoke about billionaires, DOGE, and the need for government ran healthcare. Throughout their tour, they gave made it clear that they don’t see the fight for government run healthcare and against billionaire sway over the political system as *exclusively* an issue the left cares about.
Bernie even said:
We don't accept this blue state, red state nonsense. We are one people.
They drew:
12,500 person crown in Ford Idaho Center
20,000+ Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City, Utah with 4,000 more in the overflow area
30,000 Denver’s Civic Center Park
10,000 Greeley, Colorado
Thousands in Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan, and other locations as well
With the likes of Schumer pissing off voters and lawmakers across the country no matter what spectrum of the left they land, people like AOC and Bernie represent the future of what works and resonates with voters across differing political views.
The polls substantiate this too, according to a Data for Progress survey they found that in a hypothetical 2028 U.S. Senate primary in New York City, AOC lead Schumer by 19 points with 55% of voters saying they would support her over Schumer.
And listen, I know Bernie/AOC have very valid criticisms. I am not a fan of how he started one of his rally speeches with “Israel has a right to defend themselves” years after Israel has been conducting an active genocide against Palestinians. I also recognize that Bernie has done far more than 99.9% of federal politicians for a lot of progressive movement in our country. Politics has a lot of nuance, not everything is black and white.
The rise of Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as national political forces — even in entrenched conservative strongholds — represents a determined reshuffling of American political consciousness.
Their anti-fascist politics, unapologetic progressivism, and willingness to take on Republican extremism and Democratic opportunism in tandem are speaking loudly throughout the political spectrum.
The massive crowds, record-breaking voting numbers, and growing disillusionment with establishment figures such as Chuck Schumer all point to one truth: the people are hungry for bold, honest leadership that is speaking about the everyday issues of working-class Americans.
No politician is flawless, but Bernie and AOC are proving that grassroots, progressive politics isn't just possible — it's the future.
The party has to actually stand for something and not simply be the “less evil” choice over the other side.
Stand up for the average American and say that we have a right to enjoy the priveliges that other countries enjoy: Healthcare, Education, a Living Wage, Fair and safe Labor Conditions, Etc. speaking simply and to the point and not allow the other side to distract from the issues with their “culture war.”
“Culture” is not a static thing, as ideas spread people change and so does the culture.
There are only two options in this country right now: progress or regression.
Regression steals from the next generation by telling it that they should be less prosperous and free than we are now, that we enjoyed all that was good and closed the door behind us.
Progress works for those who come after us by saying that we saw what was wrong and worked to make things better so they won't have to struggle like we did.
Corporate/centrist Democrats are Republicans in sheep’s clothing. Empty suits who only benefit their corporate masters.
