I don't understand the issue that you're making here. They let her go because she had not done anything wrong. As noted according to her representation, she has abided by the requirements to be allowed to stay in this country.
So why are we even having this conversation about who's "above the law" when she didn't break it to begin with?
If they had some justification for keeping her in custody and beyond that removing her either back to a Nigeria, or to some third country (which we really need to stop doing honestly), they would have done so and she wouldn't be here to talk about it.
It really seems like certain people are just innately guilty or at least suspicious in your worldview, by virtue of race/ethnicity and national origin alone.
Trying to come to the United States to live in safety and free from fear of persecution is not a crime. We have no reason to be rounding up random people and incarcerating them indefinitely while looking for a reason to kick them out of the country.
Again, per the article while the judge did not grant her asylum, they did protect her from removal due to her circumstances. So why is ICE trying to remove her NOW?
I have grown to be deeply ashamed to be a US citizen.
