ICE “Mistakenly” Raids Home of Citizens
They took their electronics, life savings, and forced them to strip down to their underwear.
In Oklahoma City, a woman says that about 20 ICE agents raided a home of a family who are documented citizens. They had a search warrant for the house, but the suspects listed on the paperwork do not reside at the property. A mother and her daughters were forced to strip down to their underwear for a search in front of male agents.
The woman, who goes by the pseudo name “Marisa” for her own safety, had just moved to that house two weeks prior to the raid. Marisa and her three children were in the house while her husband was still waiting to join them in Oklahoma City.
When Oklahoma news 4 reached out to the U.S. Marshals Service for comment their spokesperson denied having agents present at the raid. They said they were:
“aware of the operation before it happened,” but did not assist in any capacity.
Marisa said that the agents ordered her and her daughters to strip down to their underwear, then forced them to go outside in the rain before they could put their clothes back on.
“They wanted me to change in front of all of them, in between all of them,” she said. “My husband has not even seen my daughter in her undergarments—her own dad, because it’s respectful. You have her out there, a minor, in her underwear.”
According to Marisa, no one in her family was listed in the raid. She did recognize the names because they were listed on the mail that still arrives to the house. It is very likely that the people on the warrant were people who previously resided at the residence.
“They were very dismissive, very rough, very careless,” she said. “I kept pleading. I kept telling them we weren’t criminals. They were treating us like criminals. We were here by ourselves. We didn’t do anything.”
According to Marisa, agents also tore apart every corner of the house and the meager belongings they had, taking their electronics and cash as “evidence”. Despite her being a citizen and them raiding the wrong person, she still hasn’t received any of her possessions back.
According to Marisa, they didn’t even leave a business card so she doesn’t even know who to contact to get her belongings back.
Both the FBI and Marshalls told Oklahoma News 4 that they were not involved in the raid and that they need to contact homeland security. Homeland security told them that they are looking into it and will get back to them, but they haven’t heard from them.
This deeply troubling incident raises serious questions about accountability, due process, and the treatment of civilians during law enforcement operations.
Despite being documented citizens with no ties to the people listed on the warrant, Marisa and her family were subjected to a traumatic and invasive search that has left them without answers or justice.
With multiple federal agencies denying involvement or shifting responsibility, the lack of transparency only compounds the trauma experienced by this family.
As Marisa awaits the return of her belongings and an official explanation, her story highlights the urgent need for oversight, clear protocols, and respect for human dignity in all law enforcement actions.
This is heart wrenching to hear. Why these types of raids are being done so haphazardly with complete disregard for human rights goes beyond comprehension. Such cruel and extreme recklessness serves no accomplishment other than to blindly bully and randomly assault innocent citizens. There’s no word to describe how abhorrent these activities are. I’m very sad for this family and the healing they need. Thanks for sharing this disturbing yet very important story, Ariana.
