As the world seems to be falling apart in front of our eyes, we need some good news that will make us happy and keep our hopes up.
Well, I have just that for you today!
Trump visited Scotland a couple of days ago to play golf on his newest course and speak to government officials, prompting widespread protests across the country. From local newspaper headlines bashing him, to people holding up signs on TV and protesting in the streets with bagpipes, the list goes on.
Trump opened his new private golf course, and you, the taxpayer, footed pretty much *almost* all of the bill. According to a Huffington Post analysis, Trump’s five-day trip to Scotland cost taxpayers about $10 million in travel, security, logistics, and lodging. His promotion of his new private golf course resort, which was shrouded in a “diplomatic” international visit, exemplifies his consistent corruption and carelessness, which he continues to wield with his power.
On the evening of Trump’s five-day trip to Scotland, The Daily Record, which is a Scottish publication, published intense criticism of Trump. The journey began with the front page of a Scottish daily newspaper headlining “CONVICTED US FELON TO ARRIVE IN SCOTLAND”.
They described Trump as a “menace who has caused chaos at home and abroad”. They cited his refusal to accept his 2020 loss, support for the January 6 protestors, and his public behavior towards foreign leaders like Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Even though the paper still urged UK and Scottish leaders to maintain engagement with Trump for diplomatic and economic reasons, it’s still a hell of a lot more than what American media has done so far.
Hundreds of protestors gather across different cities in Scotland
Over the weekend that Trump was in Scotland, hundreds of anti-Trump protestors took to the streets of Edinburgh, Aberdeen, and Dumfries. More than 1,000 protested outside the U.S Consulate in Edinburgh.
In London, protesters put a picture of Trump with Jeffrey Epstein near the U.S Embassy at a bus stop. These posters appeared all across London, thanks to global donations that funded their widespread posting.
The same group, “Everyone Hates Elon,” put up a sign at his Aberdeen golf course, with it saying “Twinned with Epstein Island”.
Despite over 200,000 British people signing a petition urging the government to cancel Trump’s second visit to the UK, he proceeded with the visit.
Trump’s visit to Scotland has been anything but quiet, sparking widespread backlash across the country and drawing strong condemnation from both the public and the press.
From bold newspaper headlines calling him a “convicted felon” to powerful protests across major cities, the UK has made its stance clear.
While government officials may continue engaging with him for diplomatic reasons, the people have used their voices and their signs, chants, and bagpipes to express a different message.
In a time when many feel overwhelmed by global chaos, seeing this level of public resistance and accountability offers a small, yet powerful, reminder that people still care deeply about truth, justice, and standing up to power. And in its way, that’s good news.
BLess those Scots!
So proud of Scotland ‼️
