Tech Oligarchs Just Got Owned by China
China just made a better version of ChatGPT and the girls are freaking out
Recently, the Chinese DeepseekAI exploded in popularity, beating the latest state-of-the-art models from Meta and OpenAI. DeepseekAI is free, mostly open source, and has become the most downloaded free app on Apple’s app store, and American tech bros are freaking out.
Unlike OpenAI, they are free for anyone to download, retune, or tweak for any purpose. DeepSeek’s AI uses multistep “reasoning,” and until last week, OpenAI was considered the best at this. DeepSeekAI also gives up models with the same secret ingredients that OpenAI charges a lot of money for. We both know that late-stage American capitalism hates seeing a huge revenue source cut by its biggest rival, China.
The craziest part is that DeepSeekAI training costs researchers only $5.6 million, while OpenAI training costs billions.
Why the Tech Bros are Freaking Out
OpenAI was supposed to dominate the AI world until DeepseekAI came.
DeepseekAI does the work better and faster, and it’s for a fraction of the cost. The US government is slated to subsidize the AI industry for billions of dollars, but Chinese AI is already tearing it apart.
There’s another part to this, too: Nvidia is the company that provided the necessary chips for OpenAI to operate (called GPU’s). Nvidia saw a 17% stock plunge (worth a $589 billion loss), which is by far the single greatest one-day value wipeout of any company in history
American tech companies like Meta, Tesla, and OpenAI spent up to $25,000 on each GPU. Nvidia reportedly convinced the nation that its state-of-the-art, expensive GPU chips are necessary for large-scale AI success.
But China just did that for a fraction of the cost, putting the need for these expensive Nvidia chips in question.
The US and mainstream media claimed that China “can’t innovate.” Still, they developed this vast innovation, blinding many people, especially the tech oligarchs who lost a $1 trillion stock wipeout.
Wrapping it up…
The rise of DeepseekAI represents a dramatic shift in the global AI landscape, one that has caught American tech oligarchs off guard. By offering a powerful, cost-effective alternative to OpenAI's models, DeepseekAI has demonstrated that innovation doesn’t always need a hefty price tag.
With its ability to deliver cutting-edge AI capabilities at a fraction of the cost, it has disrupted the established order and raised serious questions about the future of AI development—especially regarding the role of expensive infrastructure like Nvidia’s GPUs.
As the US tech world scrambles to understand and adapt to this new reality, DeepseekAI's success underscores the growing influence of Chinese innovation on the global stage.
In the end, this rapid transformation is a stark reminder that in the world of technology, the rules can change overnight—and those who once seemed untouchable may soon find themselves playing catch-up.
I downloaded DeepSeek (DeepSeekv3 or DSV3 for short) last night and it was slick. It had what felt like real empathy, and we chatted about political turmoil that’s happening here and abroad, and ways to curb the rise of plutocracy w direct action.
And if that weren’t enough DSV3 helped me build out a plan for schooling and my career path with continued schooling to advance, all w resources to do all of it for free.
Im very impressed how well “taken care of emotionally” DSV3 was striving to make me feel, with encouraging language and reminders that not only, like I said, gave me resources, but also left me feeling like I’d been counseled, by someone w great knowledge. It gave me a lot of confidence in the information I got, even though it was mostly info I already knew, it was reassuring to have it laid out and organized for me.
Im digging it. Especially knowing it’s causing billionaires to crap in their diapers. ❤️
Also having the free resources for schooling and online videos handed to me so I don’t have to spend dollars to go back to school is pretty sweet too. It’s a built-in advisor in my pocket.
Try asking Deepseek about Tiananmen Square. Nothing. Xi Jinping criticism? Won’t touch it. Anything about Taiwan, Hong Kong, or the Uyghur Muslims being thrown into concentration camps and “re-educated” by force? Completely wiped.
All AI has some level of bias, sure, but DeepSeekAI isn’t just filtering—it’s erasing history and replacing it with whatever the CCP wants people to believe. This isn’t just about controlling their own people; it’s about exporting that control worldwide by building a future where truth is whatever China says it is.
And look, Western AI has its own issues, but at least companies here aren’t legally forced to obey a single government’s propaganda.
