A family of three and their three dogs from North Carolina were found dead in their house a few days after they were disconnected from power due to an overdue amount of more than $2,000 for their utility bill.
That is a downright shame that this family lost their lives over an electric bill. The electric company should have accepted at least the partial payment. With these soaring temperatures it is dangerous for anyone to be without power.
Thank you for bringing this to the nations attention. Sadly this happened in a small city about 60 miles from my home. It’s made the local news for a few days. Nothing had been reported as to the cause of death but some of the neighbors reported that a generator may have been used in their house. They would have had inside because if they left it outside it would have been stolen.
Ahh. That makes sense. Terrible. When underemployed people have utility issues they often have just enough income to so that they don’t qualify for assistance and when bills jump due to weather people can get in trouble fast.

I thought that creditors were REQUIRED to accept a partial payment made in good faith. What happened to these poor folks was BULLSHIT.
