Jason Stanley is of the worst and most disingenuous of a now completely discredited profession. All over #Trump whilst in Europe they are banning political opposition left right and centre; whilst the Dems literally conspired to take Trump out; whilst Britain is locking up people for complaining about their local school — and Canada? There are people from East and Central Europe in Canada who grew up under communism, who want to move to the US - to escape what they see as creeping totalitarianism. These are academics. Professors - just like Stanley. He really doesn’t know the first thing about Fascism. If he did - he’d start with Mussolini's first job — editor of the socialist paper Avanti; of the socialist political economy; or the suppression of free speech - or …yes…the antisemitism.
I hate that I was confused on how the evil of the N@Z! doctrine was able to develop without the population doing anything about it and I have to watch how that evil spread in real time.
Think I am past being disappointed in my fellow former vets who proudly proclaimed "Foreign and Domestic over and over again when I was active duty."
I definitely recommend Stanley’s first book How Fascism Works, and am looking forward to reading his latest, Erasing History.
