Trump Pardoned Woman Who Hid Fetuses in Her Refrigerator
Let's go over some of Trump's moves in the past couple of days that are actually important, not political jargon
Lauren Harvey is an extremist anti-abortion activist, and in March 2022, she decided to steal the fetus remains and hide them in her house/refrigerator.
While she was doing her regular abortion clinic harassment activism, she walked up to the medical disposable company’s truck parked outside of the clinic. They asked if they could have the aborted fetuses in boxes so she and her friends could give them a “proper funeral.” The truck driver complied, and they took the boxes back to Handy’s apartment, where it had 115 aborted fetuses.
They then proceeded to put what they believed to be the older fetuses in her refrigerator so they could get an autopsy. The rest of the 100-something fetuses were given a “proper funeral,” and they also gave each of them a name. Once the FBI got wind of this, they went to her apartment and arrested her. To be clear, she was not imprisoned for this crime but for another one involving extreme abortion activism that landed her five years in prison. Regardless, Trump has pardoned her!
Some of the Moves Trump has Made
Questioning Indigenous-American birthright citizenship
The justice department is now questioning Indigenous people’s right to citizenship, citing a 19th-century law that excluded Indigenous Americans from birthright citizenship.
The Civil Rights Act of 1866 predates the 14th Amendment by two years. Its section states that “all persons born in the United States and not subject to any foreign power, excluding Indians not taxed, are hereby declared to be citizens of the United States.”
The Trump administration argues that the 14th Amendment’s language, precisely the phrase “subject to the jurisdiction thereof,” is best understood “to exclude the same individuals who were excluded by the Act —i.e., those who are ‘subject to any foreign power’ and ‘Indians not taxed.’”
The Justice Department attorneys are also citing the Supreme Court case Elk v. Wilkins, where the court decided that “because members of Indian tribes owe ‘immediate allegiance’ to their tribes, they are not ‘subject to the jurisdiction’ of the United States and are not constitutionally entitled to Citizenship.”
Regardless, questioning whether the Indigenous peoples of America deserve birthright citizenship or not is genuinely a disgrace for the US, given how much genocide, land stealing, displacement, and so many other horrendous events they were forced to go through.
Non-ICE Federal Departments can now do Immigration Raids
The Department of Homeland Security has now authorized federal law enforcement agents to partake in the "investigating, determining the location of, and apprehending" undocumented migrants.
Usually, the ATF and DEA are not conventionally involved with immigration enforcement, with exceptions to large-scale drug/firearm trafficking violations. However, according to this new memo that Trump’s administration just released, that could all change very soon.
ICE agents raided Newark, New Jersey, and even arrested US citizens + Veterans
ICE raided a local establishment in New Jersey, according to the Newark mayor’s statement. They detained undocumented residents, as well as citizens, without producing a warrant for the arrests.
One of the detainees was also a US military veteran as well, who suffered “the indignity of having the legitimacy of his military documentation questioned.” The worst part about this is that Newark is a sanctuary city.
The owner of Ocean Seafood Depot's business also reported that about a dozen ICE agents raided his establishment unannounced, asking to see the documentation for his employees. The owner said, "Twenty-six years in business, I never seen anything like this."
All of the January 6 rioters have been pardoned
This one is petty straightforward: hundreds of Donald Trump super fans who were serving prison sentences for participating in the Jan 6 riots were freed on Tuesday, in a move that pardoned more than 1,500 people.
Some of the people who were pardoned also had ties to white supremacy groups, including leaders of the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers. They also assaulted multiple police officers. Trump doesn’t seem to care.
Wrapping it up…
Lauren Harvey’s subsequent arrest and later pardoned by Trump reflects the polarized political landscape we live in today and how unpredictable Donald Trump is.
Trump’s other actions—questioning Indigenous birthright citizenship, expanding immigration enforcement, and pardoning extremists involved in the January 6 riots—reveal a pattern of contentious decisions that have sparked significant outrage across the US (as well as support from conservative extremists).
These events underscore the deep divides in American society, especially on issues of human rights, immigration, and national identity.
I've been noticing that MAGA has been referring to themselves as Native Americans, so I knew it was only a matter of time before these racist bigots would no longer consider actual Native Americans American. Just one quick question for these brainiacs. I'm Swedish and Ojibwe, so where do I go?
I thought warrants were required?
