More than 100 individuals are said to have been arrested following the raid by immigration authorities on a bar in Memphis, Tennessee, around early Sunday morning. The incident took place at El Corralón, a bar located on Macon Road in the Berclair neighborhood of Memphis, sometime around 1 a.m. on August 30. Vecindarios901, an organization based in Memphis dedicated to immigrant rights, noted that more than 100 individuals were arrested during the raid and taken away from the scene on buses.
ICE has admitted to the fact that an enforcement action did take place; however, by Sunday evening, the agency still hadn’t released any information on how many people were detained, what their legal status is, where they were taken, or how many, if any, are facing criminal charges as a result.
Rallies expressing anger and frustration with the raid took place by Sunday night, with various activist groups assembling in front of an AutoZone store on Summer Avenue to ask questions about the operation and the fate of those arrested.
