More than 100 individuals are said to have been arrested following the raid by immigration authorities on a bar in Memphis, Tennessee, around early Sunday morning. The incident left families and members of the community wondering about their relatives’ whereabouts as they try to learn more about the fate of those who had been arrested.
Sad. Ridiculous. Without humaneness for all we are nothing. Surprised we aren’t joining together and fighting them. Peaceful protest is treated as and acted on with attacks by ICE SS agents and “leadership”.
Are the business managers and owners not arrested? If the crime of crossing the border makes these migrants criminals that what does that make their bosses? Other than exploitive, cheap ba$tards.
Thank you for posting this story and informing the public. I am more than concerned, I am angry and frustrated. I have believed from the beginning that ICE is no different than the Gestapo in Nazi Germany. I live about one block from where this happened and have lived here for years. Most of my family lives here. This area has always been very diverse and is home to many Hispanic, Asian, and Indian immigrants. I think it is important for people to understand that ICE is a political police force which is very different from the traditional police. They are not here to serve or protect the people. Their loyalty and service is strictly to the current political power. They’ll use secret surveillance, intelligence gathering, intimidation, torture, and other covert operations to pursue the agenda of the political power who they work for and serve. The main goal of this type of police force is typically to identify any threats to the political power and to force compliance and submission of the people to said political power. And they typically can do this by any means necessary. They usually work outside the law, which basically means they don’t have to follow policies or procedures, such as retaining a warrant before entering and searching private property. “ Political police often have the capacity to investigate, adjudicate, and even punish, often without open proceedings and accountable only to the highest levels of executive authority.” - Oxford’s Reference
We must start calling this what it is, because excusing it as anything less is dangerous to our democracy, our country, our communities, and our personal moral and ethical values.
